The Maps arrow on the top bar takes you back to the map selection screen.
The lock icon on the top bar locks the map so that it does not move inadvertently when you don’t want it to. Once locked you are offered a slidebar at the bottom of the screen to enable you to unlock it.
The Search field allows you to search for a place or coordinates
On the bottom bar:
The locate icon (circle with sight markings) on the bottom bar allows you to locate your current position depending upon the capability of your device. When you have the locate icon is actioned this will always stay central to the screen as you move. If you have the locate icon actioned and you scroll away from your current location the locate icon will not be full, if you touch it again the location indicator will move back to the centre of the screen and the locate button will be filled again. Before you start tracking you must first touch the location icon to locate your position, when you stop tracking the locate function will automatically be turned off.
The track icon (two small circles with dotted line between) allows you to to start and end the recording of your tracks. This will initiate start and end sounds accordingly.
The waypoint icon allows you to add waypoints to the map they will be placed at the centre of the map. It is useful to place a waypoint at the start of a track so if you make sure the location indicator is on and centred on the map, the waypoint will be placed at the start of your track. Waypoints can then be added along the way if you require further markings for your track.
The i for information button gives you more information including copyright and licensing references for the map.
The list icon takes you to the Waypoints, Routes and Tracks list
The square icon takes you to full map view. Location and tracking remain unaffected if you do this.
There is an additional icon on the online maps which is the caching tiles icon. This is a downward pointing arrow.
