Library

The Library contains: Locations, Navigate, Search, Maps

Locations   Library Content Locations

Locations is the central database for all the Waypoints, Routes and Tracks that you have added to RouteBuddy. You can choose items from the Locations folder to use in your Place files by simple drag and drop.

Waypoints, Routes and Tracks in the Locations folder also show up on the map above the list. Clicking on any item in the list will highlight and zoom in to the item on the map.

Any Waypoints, Routes or Tracks you add whilst working with a Place file will be automatically be added to the Locations database.

Please note: When items are removed from Locations this permanently removes them from your RouteBuddy database.
If you remove an item from your Place folder it is not removed from the Locations unless you use Alt+Del to remove from the Locations database as well.
See the section RouteBuddy Files to find out where these files are held on your computer's hard drive.

Search Library Content Search

Click on Search and the main RouteBuddy window will change to the Search View which will allow you to search by Address, Point of Interest or by coordinate / grid reference. For more information on searching go to Find a Location in the How to…section of this manual.

Navigate   Library Content Navigate

To use the Navigate function you need to have a GPS device connected which can act as a receiver (please not that not all devices act as receivers to the computer). Navigation only works with the digital road maps as they contain network data. Topo maps do not contain network data.

  • Choose the connected device you want to navigate with
  • Select on of your pre-defined routes

Maps   Library Content Maps

Click on Maps in the Source List and you will be presented with a window containing all the licensed maps you have purchased from RouteBuddy.

Some customers may have a large number of maps, this function allows them to enable and disable maps which will in turn help with processing and rendering speed. If you own road maps as well as topographic maps you may wish to have both enabled at the same time or on their own. The maps that is highlighted in the widow below the blue line will be shown as the top layer map when viewing in Places or Locations.

If a map has not been licensed the icon will have a padlock on it. To licence the map:
  • Copy your licence from your purchase confirmation email
  • Click on the Map icon
  • Click on Unlock
  • The licence window will drop down pre-filled with the licence as copied from your licence email.
